Coaching & Playing Experience

I became a member of the Blue Dragon staff of Hutchinson Community College in March 2009 as an assistant, tutoring the quarterbacks and receivers.  The passing game saw immediate improvement from the 2008 season.  We clinched the 2009 Salt City Bowl Championship, played against New Mexico Military Institute, at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson, Kansas that December.  I was then promoted to Co-Offensive Coordinator in January and was also granted the title of Associate Head Coach.

Starting quarterback, Angelo Pease, made All-Jayhawk Conference Honorable Mention after passing for 1,226 yards and throwing 11 touchdowns to six interceptions and completing 50% of his passes as a true freshman.

The Blue Dragons led the conference in scoring an average of 35.5 points per game and scored 50 or more points four times in 2009, a school record.  Under my tutelage, receivers Ethan Ungles and freshman John Miller both averaged more than 15 yards per reception while freshmen Ray-Ray Davis averaged more than 10 yards per reception.

I arrived at HCC with coaching experiences in high school, junior college and at the NCAA Division I and II levels.  In 2007, I returned to my high school alma mater, Palatka High School in Florida, where I was the Co-Offensive Coordinator, working primarily with quarterbacks and receivers.

I spent two seasons in the junior college coaching ranks, one at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas in 2006.  I was the Passing Game Coordinator and Academic Coordinator, working with quarterbacks and receivers.  I developed four all-Southwest Junior College Football Conference players at Navarrro.

I have coached in the high school ranks in Texas, at Irving Nimitz, as the Assistant Head Coach in 2005.  Two receivers under my tutelage signed letters with four-year schools including Joe Dale, University of Utah signee.

In 2004, I was granted the opportunity to coach Division I football, working as the wide receivers coach at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA.  My receivers excelled.  Vincent Butler was first team All-Southland Conference and later signed a free-agent contract with the Green Bay Packers.  Marcus Robinson was an All-Southland Conference performer.  At Nicholls State, I coordinated team projects with Habitat for Humanity and Reading for Success with the local schools.

In the spring of 2004, I served as the receiver's coach and also worked with tight ends and quarterbacks at Fort Hays State University.

During the 2003 season, I coached at Western New Mexico University where I was the receiver's coach and also worked with the return specialists, tight ends and quarterbacks.  I also spent a year in East Texas at Chapel Hill High School in Tyler coaching the receivers and tutored Tyrell Gatewood, University of Texas signee.

I started my coaching career at Crescent City Junior/Senior High School in Crescent City, FL from 1998-2001.

During my collegiate playing days, I was a four-year starter and two year captain at Western New Mexico University from 1993-1996.  I led WNMU in touchdown receptions and yards per reception for three consecutive years.  My 1993 WNMU team was ranked as high as No. 3 in NAIA Division I before moving to NCAA DII the following season.  We lost to eventual national champion East Central Oklahoma (24-22) in the quarterfinal round.  Western New Mexico University was ranked as high as No. 2 in 1994.

In high school in Palatka, FL (1984-1987), I played wide receiver/defensive back and broke two school records for most receiving yards in a game (123) and most receptions in a game (7).
