My Faith

I gave my life to God at an early age and was baptized.  I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins.  There was a point in my life when I walked away from God, thinking I could do it on my own.  After accomplishing what I thought I wanted - the education, the career, the things - I realized there was something missing.  You got it...God!

Something profound happened in my life when my oldest brother passed away (he was a Pastor).  It was in that storm that I realized I had "searched all over...looked high and low...could not find nobody greater than Jesus..." (Vashawn Mitchell)  Jesus met me right where I was and I surrendered all to him and was filled with the Holy Spirit.

I gave up my football coaching career because God has called me to be a coach but not in the way I thought.  He has called me to be a coach of young people in ministry.

My passion and vision has always been to impact youth and that is why I pursued my education in social work and a career in coaching.  Remarkably, I realized I had an uncanny ability to reach youth and they respond to me in a positive way.  What happened was I lost sight of who gave me that gift and looked to man and not to God.  Now I am more fired up than I have ever been for any game I have ever played or coached in because I now realize my divine purpose.  I'm ready to help youth win in life by putting God first!

One of my former coaching colleagues told me several months back that "football needs me and the kids need me."  He went on to say that, "There's nothing like coaching football.  Once it's in your blood, there is nothing else that can fulfill you."  At the time I agreed but that was before God revealed himself to me in an intimate way and shared my true coaching assignment.

I know it is only because of God's grace and mercy that I have this opportunity today.  My vision is to speak to youth groups to encourage, inspire, motivate and help them activate their inner spirit to realize their vision, purpose and know that they do in fact have a destiny.
